A new competition from Gibson Guitars, Music Nation & Spin Magazine will award one winning artist or band a pretty hefty grand prize: a record deal with Original Signal/Epic, a prime playing slot at Spin's Year-In-Music event, national press coverage in Spin, and a spanking-new set of Gibson SGs – one
SG Standard guitar & one
SG Reissue bass.
Thankfully, Music Nation makes it rather simple to enter. All it takes is uploading one song to the Music Nation player. From there, it's three rounds of competition, the first two of which will feature fan voting. The last round will boast a panel of judges including comedian Michael Showalter (Stella, The State), producer-songwriter Butch Walker (Marvelous 3), Peter Moren (from Swedish indie band Peter, Bjorn & John), Amanda Palmer (frontwoman for the Dresden Dolls) and Spin's Doug Brod.
Basically, the last act standing will have everything it needs to break through but a tour bus and paid security.
